This is open to socialite members of Voracity only, in addition to all other members of Voracity of course.Grabbed the explanation off one of my old forums because I'm too lazy to type it all back out myself:
I'm going to be running in-game Squares for the Superbowl. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept of Squares it's very easy. Essentially, a 10x10 grid is made. If you wish to participate you pay X gold per square you wish to have your name in (obviously, only 1 name per square). After the grid is filled the numbers 0-9 are randomly assigned along each axis and finally each team is randomly assigned an axis as well. The pooled money is divided amongst the 4 quarters of the game and and the end of each quarter the person who's name is in the square where the last digit of each team's score intersects wins a share of the pot (for example, if at the end of the 1st quarter the score is Team 1: 14, Team 2: 3, the person who's name appears in the square where the lines from Team 1: 4 and Team 2: 3 intersect has won). This takes absolutely 0 knowledge of football or anything and, imo, can be quite fun. I will randomly assign people to the squares as they buy them.
The rules:
Squares are 200g each payable at the time of purchase - either mail me the gold or give it to me at a raid or other time when I'm online
Simple math dictates that 200 * 100 = 20000g.
Numbers will be randomly assigned by a similar process AFTER ALL SQUARES HAVE BEEN PURCHASED
2 sets of numbers will be generated, 1 set for the 1st half, 1 for the 2nd so that any given square isn't exceptional or crappy through the whole game.
The initial limit for squares will be 3 per person. I may increase this later on if there is not enough interest. Also perhaps the guild bank would be interested in purchasing leftover squares? Only interested in this if we manage to fill up at the very least a majority of the squares. If a gbank square wins it I will just deposit the winning gold for that quarter into the gbank. Repair bills huzzah!
Gold will be distributed as follows: 4800g/quarter + 400g bonus for half-time and final scores (to make it clearer: 4800, 5200, 4800, 5200)
If, for some reason, there isn't enough interest in this the gold will be refunded before the raid following the Super Bowl (Mon. Feb 8th).
Post here to let me know how many squares you want. Right now the options are 1, 2, or 3. Mail the gold once you do so or give it to me shortly thereafter.
If you are interested in more than 3 squares *PM ME* me the number of ADDITIONAL squares you are willing to purchase if there are left overs. Keep additional square requests reasonable please. Remember that you'll need to get me more gold before game-time if there are extras.
Gambling is fun and you all should do it, a few hundred gold for the chance at a pool of 20k!
*Edit* Once someone requests to buy a square, I will be randomly assigning numbers in the order in which I received square purchase requests.
Betting will cease at ~1 P.M. CT Feb 7th, once betting has closed I will randomly assign the final numbers and teams. Obviously if we manage to fill the squares before then I'll assign the numbers then.
