Thoughts on SSD?

I feel like buying a SSD to install Win7 on but I don't want to spend too much(not more than 200$)

I know that as time goes buy, SSD will become bigger, faster and less expensive, I was just wondering if anyone used a SSD or know someone who does and how much it is better than a normal HDD (like Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA2 16MB cache, that's what I'm using atm).

Can't remember where I read it but the shelf life of ssd's is rather small when used regularly (1-2 yrs) over a sata or ide, said it definately incresases performance but with the price and life expectancy it wasn't worth it.

I think it was tom's hardware. I'll see if i can find it.

SSD's are awesome, especially if you get the new ones.  I'd recommend the Intel X25.

I've had a 64 GB SSD in my laptop since march of last year.  It's been fast and has worked flawlessly so far.
